Fixed Wing Pilot Licenses Explained

The Links below will take you to descriptions of each of the fixed wing pilot licenses. I have explained in detail all pilot certificates from the Private Pilot License thru the Airline Transport Pilot License.

Private Pilot License

The Private Pilot License is the first pilot license most people get. There are other options but they are pretty much student pilot licenses. The private pilot license will allow you to carry passengers and fly many different airplanes without restriction

Instrument Rating

The Instrument Rating will allow you to fly in weather conditions known as IMC  or instrument meteorological conditions

Commercial Pilot License

The Commercial Pilot License will allow you to fly and get paid for it.

Multi Engine Rating

The Multi Engine Rating will allow you to fly airplanes with more than one engine.

Flight Instructor Ratings

The Flight Instructor Rating The Flight Instructor Rating is the most difficult out of all the Pilot Ratings. This rating will allow you to instruct student pilots and other pilots. IF you plan on instructing instrument students or multi engine students, you will need to get additional flight instructor ratings. I have them listed in the flight instructor ratings section

Airline Transport Pilot License

The Airline Transport Pilot License is the highest pilot license you can get. If you plan to fly commercially for an airline or for a small air carrier, you will be required to have this license in most cases unless you just plan to be a first officer.
